My elderberry syrup has a runny consistency. Why isn’t it thick?

The syrup name is so deceptive! Commercially made elderberry syrup products often add thickening agents to make the consistency closer to a syrup. Since our elderberry syrup contains only natural products, you will find the consistency to be similar to grape juice. This is normal!

How often should I take elderberry syrup?

There really is no wrong answer to this question. We have found preferences vary greatly among people! Taking elderberry syrup more often when you are feeling the need for additional immune support is definitely recommended. Our family takes it regularly while school is in session. We increase our serving to every 3-4 hours if we feel our immune system starting to need additional support.

Can children under the age of 1 year have elderberry syrup?

Our elderberry syrup recipe includes local, raw honey, both for its delicious flavor and the additional benefits it can provide. It is not recommended for children under the age of 1 due to the honey ingredient. Our elderbaby syrup is made specifically for our youngest customers, by utilizing organic maple syrup in place of the honey. If you have purchased one of our DIY kits, please select an alternate sweetener if planning to share with younger family members under 1 year.
